International Bachelor of Science in Artificial IntelligenceUniversité PSL · Paris School of AI

Admission and fees

Entry is into the first year. Applications go through Parcoursup or the Études en France procedure, and which one applies to you depends on your nationality, your secondary school diploma and where you live. The two run on different calendars, set nationally rather than by the programme.

International applicants going through Études en France apply in the autumn, well before Parcoursup opens. For entry in September 2027, the application is open from 1 October to 15 December 2026. Check which channel applies to you now, so as not to miss it.

Who the programme is for

The bachelor is designed for students with a strong taste and a strong record in mathematics, who want to work on artificial intelligence from its foundations. The current cohort is about sixty students, of many nationalities; for September 2027, the programme plans to admit about ninety.

For entry in 2026, the programme received some 500 applications: close to 400 through Parcoursup, from about fifty countries, and over a hundred through Études en France, from about thirty. There were 55 places in the first year, 35 on Parcoursup and 20 on Études en France.

Prerequisites

How to apply

French higher education has several admission channels, and which one applies to you is a matter of rule rather than choice. For this programme:

Which channel applies
Your situation Apply through
You are a national of France, of a European Union or European Economic Area country, of Switzerland, Monaco, or Andorra Parcoursup
You are a national of another country, but hold or are preparing a French, European, or bi-national baccalauréat, or are enrolled in a French classe préparatoire Parcoursup
You are a national of another country, with a foreign secondary diploma, and you live in one of the countries covered by the Études en France procedure Études en France, through Campus France
You are a national of another country, with a foreign secondary diploma, and you live in France or in a country not covered by Études en France Parcoursup

Admission through either channel is not by itself a visa: applicants who need one apply to their consulate once they have been admitted. The PSL welcome desk assists with the visa formalities, before arrival and after, and with settling in Paris.

Applying through Études en France

Applications are made on the Études en France platform, managed by the Campus France office of your country of residence, which can also answer questions about the procedure. The window is short and comes early: an application not submitted by the deadline in December cannot be considered for the following September.

The Études en France platform

1 October 2026
Applications open on the Études en France platform.
15 December 2026
Deadline for submitting the application. Check with the Campus France office of your country for earlier deadlines of its own.
30 April 2027
Deadline for universities to answer applicants.
31 May 2027
Deadline for applicants to accept an offer; not answering counts as declining it.

Applying through Parcoursup

Applications are made on Parcoursup, the national platform for admission to the first year of higher education in France, where the programme has its own entry. Choices are entered in the winter and the file is confirmed in early spring; answers come from June onwards.

How applications are assessed

Selection is made on the application file. The criteria and their weights, as published on Parcoursup for the previous round, are the following; they are republished each year with the programme’s Parcoursup entry.

Assessment criteria, as published for the 2026 round
Criterion Weight
Academic results: mathematics, English, second speciality, and the progression of results over recent years 75%
Motivation, and how well the stated project matches the objectives of the programme 10%
Work methods: the ability to analyse, model, and solve complex problems, autonomy, organization 5%
Personal qualities: engagement, openness to an international environment 5%
Activities and interests, and curiosity about artificial intelligence and the interdisciplinary sciences 5%

Tuition fees

Université PSL applies a progressive scale to this programme: for students whose tax residence is in the European Union, the fee depends on the annual gross income of the household, as declared on the most recent tax assessment. Holders of a CROUS grant pay nothing. The table below reproduces the official scale for 2026-2027; the official fee schedule is the document that counts.

Annual tuition fees, 2026-2027, by student category
Situation Fee
Holder of a CROUS grant (levels 0 bis to 7) Exempt
Ward of the French Republic, refugee student, student with a disability of 80% or more Exempt
Holder of a France Excellence scholarship (BFE) Exempt
Household income up to €34,999 National fee, €178 in 2026-2027
€35,000 to €39,999 €900
€40,000 to €49,999 €1,700
€50,000 to €59,999 €2,500
€60,000 to €69,999 €3,500
€70,000 to €79,999 €4,600
€80,000 to €99,999 €5,500
€100,000 to €119,999 €6,900
€120,000 to €139,999 €7,800
€140,000 to €159,999 €8,600
€160,000 to €179,999 €9,400
€180,000 to €199,999 €10,200
Above €200,000, or income not disclosed €14,900
Tax residence outside the European Union €19,500

Income brackets are those of the annual gross income of the fiscal household, taken from the tax assessment of two years earlier: for 2026-2027, the 2025 assessment on 2024 income. Students who prefer not to submit a tax assessment pay the top rate and cannot ask for it to be reviewed within the same year. French nationals whose parents are resident abroad for tax purposes are treated as non-EU. Fees may be revised each year by the PSL board, so they can change over the course of the degree; a review committee meets each autumn for students whose situation has changed.

Université PSL provides a tuition calculator for this programme, which gives the amount due from the household’s situation without waiting for registration to open.

On top of tuition, every student pays the student and campus life contribution (CVEC), €105 for 2026-2027. Grant holders, refugees and asylum seekers are exempt but must still obtain a CVEC certificate.
